France Compliance Hiring Trends H1 2026

What Is Driving Demand

Paris has continued to strengthen its position as one of Europe’s key financial centres. This growth has followed Brexit, and it shows no sign of slowing. More than 7,500 financial services roles have relocated to France since 2021. International banks, asset managers and fintechs are all continuing to expand their Paris presence. As a result, Compliance and Financial Crime hiring remains one of the busiest areas of the market.

Our latest Market Update explores the themes shaping this hiring activity. It also looks at what these themes mean for clients and professionals heading into H2 2026.

A packed regulatory agenda

The ACPR’s 2026 supervisory programme has set out five key priorities. On top of this, 213 supervisory missions are planned for the year. Meanwhile, CRR3/CRD VI, DORA, the EU AI Act, MiCA and the AML/AMLA package are all progressing on similar timelines. Consequently, Compliance teams across banks, insurers and asset managers are managing a significant additional workload.

Where demand is strongest

Several themes stand out in our latest analysis:

  • Markets Compliance: demand remains strong across product advisory, front-office supervision and second-line coverage. This is particularly true as banks build out their Paris trading businesses.
  • AML, Sanctions and Financial Crime: firms are preparing for the EU Single Rulebook and direct AMLA supervision. As a result, demand remains high for AML investigators and sanctions specialists.
  • FinTech and Digital Assets: the MiCA CASP transition deadline has increased regulatory activity. This is creating demand for crypto compliance professionals who understand both ACPR and AMF expectations.
  • DORA and AI Governance: DORA has moved into active supervision. However, candidates with genuine implementation experience remain relatively limited.
  • Hybrid Compliance, AI and Data skills: firms increasingly value candidates who combine Compliance expertise with technology and data knowledge. This is one of the most interesting trends we have seen this year.

What this means for H2 2026

Our report highlights a widening gap. Firms need certain skills, but not enough candidates can offer them. Therefore, firms that can offer clear career progression are best placed to attract strong candidates. Competitive compensation and flexibility around working arrangements also make a real difference in the months ahead.
